34TH ALL INDIA MAJOR PORTS FOOT BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
VISAKHAPATNAM
27th TO 30th APRIL,2010 |

The 34th All India Major Ports Foot Ball Championship was conducted from 27th to 30th April, 2010 at Sports & Cultural Complex, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Visakhapatnam. The V.P.S.C is organizing the All India Major Ports Foot ball Championship for the Sixth time. Earlier in 1984-85, 1987-88, 1993-94, 2000-01 and 2007-08. Last time the Championship was held at Kolkata Port Trust. Kolkata and Mormugao Ports were the winners and runners respectively, Cochin Port secured the third place. In the Major Ports history of Football, VPT has won the Gold Medal on one occasion and Silver Medals on two occasions.
A total of 7 Ports; Chennai, Cochin, Mormugao, Mumbai, Paradip, Tuticorin and host Visakhapatnam participated in this event. The Championship was conducted on a League-cum-Knock-out basis by dividing the Teams into two Pools. The Football Championship was officiated by qualified officials of National repute.
The Championship was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri. Ajeya Kallam, I.A.S., Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust at 08.30 A.M on 27th April, 2010 at Diamond Jubilee Outdoor Stadium and Shri G.V.L. Satya Kumar, I.R.T.S., Dy. Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust presided over the function. . Shri. K.V. Gupta, FA&CAO, Dr. G. Ramanjaneyulu, CMO, Shri. D. Naresh Kumar, Secretary, VPT & MPSCB, Shri. K.S.D. Dattu raju, Traffic Manager, Shri S Mathur, Dy Conservator, Shri Prabodh Chandra, Sr. Commandant, CISF, Shri K R Sudhakar, CME i/c, Dr. S. Adinarayana, Hon. President, Dist. Football Assn., Shri. Y. Raghu Ram, President, Dist. Football Assn., Shri. G.S.S. Kumar, Sr. Dy. C.A.O., VPT & Working President, VPSC and Shri M V Manikyalu, Sports Officer, VPT were the other distinguished personalities present on the occasion.
The host Visakhapatnam Port Trust clinched the All India Major Ports Football Championship for the second time. Cochin Port Trust grabbed Runner-up Trophy and Paradip Port Trust stood in Third position. Special Prizes were awarded to Ch Vijay Kumar of Visakhapatnam Port, R L Pinto of Mumbai Port, Anjo T S of Cochin Port and R Naresh ofVisakhapatnam Port for the best performances during the Championship.
Shri G V L Satya Kumar, IRTS, Deputy Chairman/ VPT & President, VPSC attended as Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function and distributed the Trophies and Medals to the Winners.
